How to turn a Visa, Mastercard or Amex gift card into cash
KartaCash ·
Prepaid Visa, Mastercard and American Express gift cards — Vanilla, OneVanilla, Perfect Gift, rebate and reward cards — can be spent almost anywhere, but getting the balance out as cash is hard, and the last few dollars often go to waste. If you'd rather have the money, you can sell the card. Here's how it works for US cards.
How these cards are different
They have no redemption code. They're sold with the card number, expiry date and security code (CVV, CVC or the 4-digit CID on Amex), so that's what you enter, with photos of both sides of the card.
Before you sell
- Check the balance on the issuer's site printed on the back, and enter exactly what's left.
- Make sure the card is activated. Some need registering with a ZIP code before they work online.
- Only US cards in USD are accepted, and only gift, reward or rebate cards — not reloadable debit cards in someone's name.
- Too many wrong attempts lock a card: type the details carefully.

Can I sell a card with a few dollars left?
Yes, as long as the balance is within the accepted range for that card. Enter exactly what's left.
Do you buy cards from outside the US?
Not for prepaid Visa, Mastercard or Amex at the moment — only US cards in USD.
Do I need an account or ID?
No. Just an email address to follow your order.
Is it safe to enter the card details?
They're encrypted before being stored, only the review team can open them, and every access is logged.
